The death of series creator Merv Griffin last year, as well as the show’s 25th anniversary on the air, reminded voters of the remarkable longevity of “Wheel of Fortune” stars Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

“The show keeps going and going, due in part to them and the fact that it is a great game,” said a panelist.

The series continues to rank as the top show in all of syndication, despite the peaks and valleys seen by the game-show genre. “Wheel” is averaging a 7.6 this season and is cleared through the 2011-12 season.

“For two decades, these two personalities have entered living rooms across America six nights a week,” said a voter. “Vanna is great eye candy, and Pat’s vanilla delivery and guy-next-door looks are a perfect support for the over-the-top production of ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ The show’s visuals, sounds and energy could not work with flashy talent fighting for attention. This duo is like a good mild wine, which complements a spicy dish.”
