Sony Makes Deal With YouTube
Sony Pictures television struck a deal with YouTube to launch a range of ad-supported channels on the video-sharing site, the companies announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The first channel went live today with Sony's Minisode Network—the online video content service Sony introduced last year featuring condensed episodes of classic Sony TV shows.
With the launch on YouTube, the Minisode Network grows from 18 to 21 shows and now includes "Married, With Children," "Newsradio" and an animation block. The Minisode Network has also started acquiring programs from other companies, Sony said.
Under the deal, Sony will now be a YouTube partner and will participate in the site's ad sharing program.
