‘Wilkos’ Renewed in 85% of U.S.

NBC Universal’s “The Steve Wilkos Show” has been renewed for a second season in more than 85% of the U.S for the 2008-09 season.

"With more than a decade of daytime experience, Steve has built on that success and his show has done a great job of complementing stations’ already existing daytime lineups," Barry Wallach, president of NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, said in Wednesday’s announcement.

Among stations renewing the show are Tribune stations WPIX-TV in New York, KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, WGN-TV in Chicago and WPHL-TV in Philadelphia; Sinclair stations WTTA-TV in Tampa, Fla., WNUV-TV in Baltimore, WTTE-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and WLFL-TV in Raleigh, N.C.; and Fox-owned stations WFTC-TV in Minneapolis and KUTP-TV in Phoenix.

“Wilkos” is hosted by the former head of security on “The Jerry Springer Show.” It’s part of an NBCU daytime syndicated programming roster that includes “The Jerry Springer Show,” “The Martha Stewart Show” and “Maury.”

James Gardner:

This gritty, in-your-face type of show is exactly what television needs today. Steve Wilkos deserves every bit of praise he receives! Job well done.

Debbie Luker:

Dear Steve,
I absolutely love your show. Finally a show that really cares about it's contents and follows up ,not just exploiting the issues and the people. Would you please come down South? We need some help down here just as much as Chicago.

Again, thank you for being so genuine.
(I would love an autographed shirt...I'm a retired school teacher and sure would have loved to have been able to use your "tough love" tactics back then.
