MTV is teaming up with video-sharing site Metacafe to launch “Virtual Dance Off," an online dance contest.
Users are invited to use avatar technology Machinima to choreograph animated dancers, set the videos to music and upload them to Metacafe for judging.
The top 20 entries will be featured on MTV’s Virtual Worlds site, where users will select a grand prize winner.
MTV previously partnered with Metacafe for a virtual music video contest that garnered more than 1,500 submissions. Its parent company, Viacom, works with Makena Technologies to develop virtual worlds based on its television properties.
