ESPN, MobiTV Play Ball
ESPN will partner with mobile content service MobiTV to bring a basketball sweepstakes and live event to AT&T Wireless subscribers.
The promotion, which runs until June 9, offers a subscriber and two friends the chance to play a 3-on-3 game against pros Ron Artest, Joakim Noah and Nate Robinson. The game will be played in Bristol, Conn., on June 27.
“The demand for live sports programming continues to drive the growth of mobile television, and teaming up with ESPN underscores our ongoing commitment to raising awareness for on-the-go access to the best in sports highlights and programming,” said Paul Scanlan, president of MobiTV, which currently distributes 40 channels of made-for-mobile content, including ESPNMobile.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
