MGM Grand at Foxwoods Tests Interactive HDTV

The MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Connecticut is the first advertiser to employ a technology that allows viewers watching high-definition TV to click through to information from the Internet.

Horizon Media is working on the project with Backchannelmedia and WCVB-DT, the digital signal of the ABC affiliate in Boston.

“From the start, Horizon Media has embraced our technology of linking the robust digital television platform to the application environment of the Internet,” said Michael Kokernak, co-CEO of Backchannelmedia.

To support the May 17 opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Horizon Media will be running a multichannel, cross-market media campaign utilizing local television, local radio, out-of-home, sports partnerships and local print.

“We’re thrilled to integrate Backchannelmedia’s new communication capabilities with our multimedia channel approach to add to the support of the new brand launch. This approach will help to create a unique awareness for MGM Grand at Foxwoods that will ultimately make it the premiere gaming destination in the Northeast,” said Rob Kalman, brand group director at Horizon Media.
