NBCU, WCSN Team for Universal Sports
NBC Sports and World Championship Sports Network are uniting to create Universal Sports, a multiplatform destination for athletes and fans.
The joint effort hopes to bring NBC Universal programming to WCSN’s established online Olympics audience. The partnership followed NBCU’s acquisition of a significant stake in WCSN, which it will jointly control with InterMedia Partners.
“Universal Sports will provide a terrific year-round home to almost all Olympic sports and the athletes who give our viewers such compelling stories,” Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Universal Sports, said in a statement Monday.
Universal Sports content will be available in both television network and online platform formats. It will premiere diving and gymnastic events June 19 and 20, providing live early-round coverage of the Olympic Trials for the first time.

I have a new flat screen TV, purchased at Christmas. It is not hooked up to Cable, so right now I am watching World Championship speed skating on UNIVERSAL SPORTS, which is carried by one of the For the past week, I have been indulging in watching ski jumping. It seems every sport involved is being held in a different venue all over Europe. France built a new ski jump facility, investing millions of dollars for it. Come on, U.S. let the people see these events. Last night I was Anton Appolo Ohno and his team mates win the 3,000 meter - 5 man relay. It was awesome. I am a 73 year European woman and grew up immersed in sports. If you don't follow football, or baseball here, you are pretty much left out of the loop.
