It's official: Shannen Doherty is moving back to "90210."

Executive producer Gabe Sachs said Saturday that Ms. Doherty will reprise her iconic role of Brenda Walsh in the network's upcoming spinoff of the Aaron Spelling-created soap opera. She had been in discussions with the network for several weeks.

Ms. Doherty's Brenda will appear in "multiple" epsiodes of the show, the CW said. Brenda will return to West Beverly Hills High School as a successful actress/director who agrees to direct the school's annual musical production.

Ms. Doherty joins several other old school "90210"-ers making return revisits to the franchise, including Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth and Joe E. Tata.

The new "90210" debuts Sept. 2.
