"Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" has found a new home.
Joss Whedon's new Internet musical, which has been available for streaming since Monday, is now for sale via iTunes. Consumers can buy one episode for $1.99 or the whole 40-minute movie for $3.99.
Like the streaming video version of the film, the iTunes availability has an expiration date. "Dr. Horrible" will be available for purchase on iTunes only through July 29.
"I'm deeply psyched to be able to offer 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' on iTunes," Mr. Whedon said. "It's a way to reach way more potential viewers than I can personally call and harass into watching it. The idea that people can carry our little opus around on their iPods and iPhones is thrilling."
Meanwhile, a huge influx of visitors to the Web site for "Dr. Horrible" caused it to crash Tuesday.
An official Twitter account for "Dr. Horrible" says plans are under way to switch to a "monster server" and that the Web site should be back up in a couple of hours.
The message was posted more than six hours ago. DrHorrible.com remains down as of 5:25 p.m. PT today.
Fan frenzy also has taken its toll on the Joss Whedon fan site Whedonesque.com. "Due to a traffic spike caused by today's release of 'Dr. Horrible,' our host has shut down our database," a message on the site read Tuesday afternoon. "We are working hard to move our site elsewhere."
When "Dr. Horrible" debuted late Monday night online, international fans complained that they couldn't watch the video through the Hulu.com player, which was streaming Act I on DrHorrible.com. A Twitter message from Monday night said they were working on fixing the problem.

It's just the best thing ever made for online viewing. That's all. And I can say that after only one segment. But don't believe me, believe the guy who blogs at this link, who -- SURPRISE!!! -- is also me.
If this works out financially for all involved it could change the way the business works, cutting out all those nasty suits (oh, that's right, that's you guys!) from the process and going right to the audience with it.
Or, Dr. Horrible could move on to other platforms.
This could and should be the signature character of Neil Patrick Harris' career. Absolutely perfect for him. I've always said that Neil would be the perfect American Doctor Who. This is even better, 'cause he gets to sing.

I'm still hearing from people outside the US who cannot view it, so I'm not sure that issue can be considered fixed.

Well the issue with international viewership was fixed. The server crash and ongoing instability will of course still prevent people from seeing it; but theoretically, they CAN see, if they can get access to it
