CBS Renews 'Flashpoint'

CBS is bringing back summer drama "Flashpoint" for another season.

The network has picked up a new batch of episodes of the Canadian-produced crime drama, which proved to be a solid addition to the CBS summer schedule this year. After showing some promise on Friday nights, the network switched "Flashpoint" to "Swingtown's" 10 p.m. Thursday slot—behind "CSI"—and saw ratings grow even more.

Canada's CTV produces "Flashpoint" with CBS Paramount Network TV. Because of CTV's involvement, CBS' pricetag for the show is dramatically lower than what the network pays for a typical first-year drama.

CBS also has renewed summer staple "Big Brother" for next year. A renewal for "Swingtown," the network's other summer drama, is considered a long shot.
