New York TV Festival Unveils Independent Pilot Winners

The fourth annual New York Television Festival has announced the winners of its independent pilot competition.
Dan Levy and Steve Basilone’s “Below the Law” was named best comedy pilot, while “Hit Factor,” created by Jamie Rosenblatt and Neil Hopkins, took the drama pilot award.
The festival awarded best family pilot to “The Kitty Landers Show,” from Chris Potocki, Regina Taufen and Anna Christopher, while nonscripted pilot honors went to “The Road” from Frank Mosca and Mike DeStefano.
The winning pilots will be available for free online viewing on Oct. 1.
Comedy pilot “Selling Hell” won the Fox-NYTVF comedy script contest. Its creator, Mike Maloney, will receive $25,000 and a development deal with Fox Broadcasting Co.
Two reality pilots created by Blaire Byhower and Hannah Friedman for the Procter & Gamble Productions Flying Solo TV plot contest also were unveiled. The two pilots will be distributed digitally on www.mylifetime.com.
