Pennsylvania Stations Slate DTV Test on Nov. 17

Pennsylvania’s television stations will conduct a statewide DTV test on Nov. 17 at 6:25 p.m.

Participating stations will turn off their analog transmitter for 60 seconds, leaving unprepared viewers with a snowy screen or a message notifying them that they are not ready for the Feb. 17 digital television transition.

Forty stations in Erie, Johnstown, Altoona, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton are currently set to participate in the test.

well is it going to be a snowy screen or a message?

A snowy screen isn't going to help anyone. I suspect they're not going to "turn off" the analog transmitters, but rather put up a slate with some helpful info.

At least I hope that's what they're going to do.

Dude, you're only talking about ONE MINUTE!!

Two freakin' commercials!! (or one)

There's no damned message. That's just the writer confused because she probably has cable, which won't be affected unless they haven't been carrying digital feeds thinking they're of substandard quality.

The 'helpful info' they've been trying to communicate to you for months, nay, years, since this event was first confirmed.

>>>There's no damned message.

Well. You were wrong. The analog transmitter continued operating, and there was a message telling people they "failed" with a phone number to call to order the converter box.
