Versus Hires Scarbrough as VP, Digital Media

Cable network Versus hired a new executive to oversee its digital media operations.

The Comcast-owned cable network named Neal Scarbrough VP of digital media. Most recently, he was VP and editor-in-chief of Wasserman Media Group/Sportsnet. Previously he was general manager and editor of AOL Sports and VP and editor-in-chief of ESPN.com.

At Versus, he will oversee the network’s digital strategies and manage Versus.com, as well as serving as the Web site’s editor-in-chief.

“As Versus continues to grow and evolve, Neal’s strategic vision and extensive experience with some of the top sports Web sites in the country will help the network successfully navigate this ever-changing digital landscape and create a go-to destination for fans of real competition,” said Versus President Jamie Davis.

Versus has been making other moves to get into the digital game. Last month it announced a deal with Jacked to create interactive Web sites that coordinate with sporting events televised by Versus on cable, including National Hockey League games and college football and basketball contests.
