WPIX Debuts LATV on N.Y. Cable, Telco Systems

Tribune Broadcasting’s New York CW affiliate CW11/WPIX has made bilingual entertainment network LATV available through cable and telco systems in the tri-state area.

Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Verizon and Comcast digital subscribers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut now can access the network, which was originally distributed only via WPIX’s digital multicast channel 11.2.

“Cable clearance in New York is a major achievement for LATV, as this market is one of the most highly sought-after by all networks. This adds 24/7 access to our bicultural network for more than 4 million viewers,” Howard Bolter, president and chief operating officer of LATV, said in a statement. “WPIX and its parent company Tribune Broadcasting are great partners. We congratulate them and appreciate how quickly they were able to negotiate cable carriage for our network.”

Nice. Now we have yet another avenue through which immigrants -- legal and otherwise -- can avoid learning english, further spanishifying the country. Wouldn't mind except that I like living in AMERICA. If I wanted to live in a foreign culture, I'd move to it.
