‘Clone Wars’ Scores Best Ratings for Cartoon Network Premiere
The debut Cartoon Network’s “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” was the most-watched series premiere in the cable channel’s history.
The Friday premiere was the top-rated children’s show in its timeslot among kids 6 to 11, kids 2 to 11, tweens 9 to 14, teens 12-17 and total viewers, based on overnight data from Nielsen Media Research. In most age groups, the program more than doubled the network’s viewership from the same time a year ago.
Cartoon Network’s other new series, “The Secret Saturdays” also racked up strong gains, the network said.
"This is a great start for our new night of fantasy-action-adventure programming," said Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Turner Broadcasting's Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media group. "Kids and their parents made it a point to tune in to the amazing storytelling and brilliant animation of Lucasfilm's ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars.’ We are looking forward to building on this foundation and are thrilled with this turnout and record numbers for Cartoon Network."
