Comcast Rolls Out Transitional Deals
Comcast Corp. is helping consumers prepare for February’s DTV switch through its new “Get Ready” campaign aimed to entice the public into subscribing to the company’s cable TV services.
As part of the campaign Comcast is offering a 12-month free basic cable package for customers who subscribe to at least one other Comcast service, such as a phone line or Internet service. New customers can also choose to sign up for a basic cable package for $10 per month for one year.
The “Get Ready” initiative is part of Comcast’s general DTV public awareness campaign, which includes informative Web sites, public service announcements and educational partnerships with local governments and other third parties.
Comcast, however, plans to increase rates on some of its cable packages in certain markets in light of the current economic turmoil. The increases come even though the cable service provider posted an 8% profit increase in the last year.
