College Sports Net in Deal With FiOS

CBS College Sports Network has picked up an additional 4 million subscribers through a new carriage deal with Verizon’s FiOS TV and upgraded distribution deals with other cable operators that now put it in a total of 29 million homes.

The network will start appearing on FiOS later this month.

Comcast has upgraded CBS College Sports to the digital classic tier in Atlanta, Boston and Minneapolis. It also is moving to the digital basic tier on Bright House Networks in the central Florida and Tampa Bay markets.

In addition, the network will be providing University of Central Florida football telecasts to the operator’s new Bright House Sports Network.

Steve Herbst, executive VP and general manger of CBS College Sports, said the network is gaining traction with operators by adding more live games, many in high definition, and by providing local content. With football season coming to an end, the network is gearing up to telecast 150 college basketball games leading up to its wall-to-wall coverage of March Madness.
