“Lost” has found a new time slot.
ABC announced on its Web site Friday that the island mystery will return to Wednesday nights next year, airing at 9 p.m. The show will kick off its penultimate season Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. airing the first two episodes back-to-back.
The network plans to make a night of it, too, airing a one-hour clip show at 8 p.m. on Jan. 21.
ABC’s scheduling move will pit “Lost” against “Lie to Me,” the new Fox drama the network plans to air in the same Wednesday time slot. “Lie” will have the advantage of an “American Idol” lead-in.
The Alphabet’s decision also means “Private Practice” will be moving out of its current 9 p.m. Wednesday time slot. A network spokeswoman said ABC would announce a new home for “Practice,” along with some other scheduling shifts, as early as next week.

Good use of the word penultimate. Gary Unmarried had an entire scene about that word this week (VERY funny show BTW). So, are we to assume that next season will be the wrap up of Lost?

ABC and the Lost producers announced a couple of years ago that Lost would end after the sixth season, in the spring of 2010.
