‘Battlestar’ Builds on Fan Base as End Nears

Sci Fi Channel’s final episodes of “Battlestar Galactica” kicked off Friday night, Jan. 16, with a strong performance among several key demographics for the show and the basic-cable network.
Friday night’s episode, “Sometimes a Great Nation,” scored a 1.6 rating among households, drawing 1.3 million viewers 18-49, 1.4 million viewers 25-54 and 2.1 million total viewers. Compared to the first half of season four, the show improved 23% from its season-to-date household rating and total viewers, 21% in adults 18-49 and 15% among adults 25-54.
Sci Fi finished the night fourth in all of cable among adults 18-49 and third in adults 25-54.
Anticipation for the show’s return also led to increased traffic to related Web properties at SciFi.com. The site logged is biggest day in total page views since last November, the most unique visitors since last October and the most video streams since last April, when the first half of season four debuted.
The specific Web page dedicated to “Battlestar” also scored highs in page views and unique visitors since last April, and its biggest day in video delivery since October 2006.
