Comedy Central Launches HD Channel
Comedy Central is going high-definition.
Comedy Central HD will launch on Cablevision over a three-day period beginning today and on Cox and DirecTV later this month. More HD launches are expected throughout the year.
As part of its programming, Comedy Central HD will make available 30 past episodes of “South Park,” the first two seasons of “The Sarah Silverman Program,” various standup specials, films and the “Comedy Central Presents” in high definition. The upcoming seasons of “South Park” and “Reno 911!” and the series premiere of “Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire” will be broadcast in HD.
Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” aren’t expected to take the HD leap right now, but will be broadcast in HD sometime in the future.
