Hulu Buys First Super Bowl Ad

Online video site Hulu will be running its first Super Bowl ad this weekend, the company announced today.

Hulu did not disclose any details, but issued a media alert stating, “During Super Bowl XLIII this Sunday, look for the launch of Hulu’s ad campaign. Finally, we’ll reveal the secret behind Hulu. We look forward to chatting with you further after air this Sunday.”

Hulu launched formally last March and in December delivered 216 million streams to nearly 7 million unique visitors, making it the fourth most-visited online video site, according to Nielsen Online.

The ad buy is believed to be one of the first in the Super Bowl for an online video site.

Hulu of course is playing for keeps, being backed by "old media" and all.

That's not to say that they're one of the coolest things since sliced bread, 'cos they are. I'm happy that they have the decent interface and usability to back up the vast amount of content available.

if it wasn't for boxee.tv though, i wouldn't be so hooked on Hulu.

j(hoping and praying hulu doesn't somehow mess up the greatness that boxee has brought to it)
