Obama Names Gips as White House Director of Presidential Personnel
President-elect Barack Obama today tapped a former Federal Communications Commission official, Donald Gips, as White House director of presidential personnel.
Mr. Gips, who was earlier named to the advisory board of Mr. Obama’s transition office, is a former chief of the international bureau of the FCC.
He’s currently on leave from his role as group VP-global corporate development for Level 3 Communications, a position that puts him in charge of the company’s merger and acquisition efforts.
Mr. Gips was chief domestic policy adviser to Vice President Al Gore.
