Mary Tyler Moore will receive the NAB Distinguished Service Award at this year’s NAB Show, scheduled for next month in Las Vegas.
The National Association of Broadcasters will present the award to Ms. Moore as part of the all-industry opening keynote on April 20.
The organization’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes figures who have made “significant and lasting contributions to the broadcasting industry.” Previous recipients include Bob Hope, Walter Cronkite, Oprah Winfrey and former U.S. President Ronald Reagan.
Ms. Moore starred in “The Dick Van Dyke Show” in the 1960s and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 1970s. She has won seven Emmy Awards.
“Mary Tyler Moore is a television icon who not only entertained millions of Americans week after week with her quick humor and amazing talent, but inspired many women of her generation to pursue careers in broadcasting, journalism and related fields,” NAB President-CEO David Rehr said in a release. “We are proud to honor her with our Distinguished Service Award for the tremendous impact she’s had on broadcasting and for her many years of public service.”
The NAB Show kicks off April 18 and runs through April 23.
