USA Network Ups Wachtel to President, Original Series

Jeff Wachtel, the executive reponsible for some of cable's highest-rated original series, has been promoted to president of original series at USA Network.

Since Wachtel's hire in 2001 as executive VP of original programming, USA Network has launched shows including "Monk," "The 4400" and "Burn Notice" that have helped push it to the top spot among cable channels.

"As head of original programming, Jeff’s leadership has inspired the team responsible for one of the most successful slates in all of television,” said Bonnie Hammer, president, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions. "His creative intellect, impeccable taste and production savvy are among the best in the business, and we look forward to having his stamp of originality on all future successes here at USA.”

Mr. Wachtel will continue to oversee all USA original programming, including scripted series, reality/alternative and long-form, including limited series. He will continue his role as co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions.
