This is terrible!! First you take away Guiding Light and now As The World Turns. What is the matter with you?!! Us loyal viewers don't count, do we? This makes me sick and really upsets me. Guiding Light being cancelled was hard enough; still not over that and now you do this to us. I do not and will not watch what you put in place of these two great soaps. I hope you at CBS can't sleep at night. These are the only two I watch and now look what you are doing. Maybe you will change your mind if enough people complain. But, you didn't for Guiding Light, did you?

I cannot believe it...why in the world would they eliminate a successful soap where the ratings are good? I cannot find any reason that it is being canceled! Wow, a lot of the posters are right on. I can't believe that they cancelled GL and now ATWT. I have a degree in Communications and they think that a lot of people don't watch these shows or buy the products that are advertised on them.

The Nielsen rating thingie is so overrated. I mean a lot of people TIVO and tape stuff all the time. I know personally, we all sat around and everyone chimed in on what they watch at night, and it was amazing the discrepancy between what TV execs think and what the public wants.

Using CBS for example, which is big in our market. The Monday night comedies are huge and even Gary Unmarried and the OldNewChristine show on Wednesday night. The CSI shows are waning big time....esp. the Miami and the NYC one, though the Vegas One keeps its own.

What I am trying to convey though I have strayed badly from the soap opera digesting...is, these shows do command a dedicated audience, who will surely stop watching CBS stuff...did you read what I just typed....I don't think TV execs understand the tying over of followers to other programs. Heck, that is Communications 101 where I went to college. They need to reexamine some of their moves like cancelling GL and ATWT and bring them back in perhaps smaller tighter troupes to maintain and retain viewership, amen, psongman

when i heard about this cancellation of "as the world turns" i thought back to the day i found out that President Kennedy was killed. I was in 4th grade at the time - the principal put the radio broadcast over the intercom.

when i got home, they were showing how walter cronkite interrupted a scene from A.T.W.T. featuring Helen Wagner. this show, together w/edge of night / search for tomorrow / brighter day is part of my history and ife since i was 2 years old.

this and other shows on at the time [1956] helped me learn to talk / form sentences. i sang the toothpaste - detergent jingles.

i feel as if someone has punched me in the stomach. there is no network loyalty to viewers anymore. i have been a CBS viewer since 1956. that is no longer true. this decline seems inevitable.

i don't have time for quick buck artists w/schedules full of "reality shows".

good, well-made scripted dramas are sorely missing from tv - both daytime and nighttime.

CBS has lost me. but, maybe it does not matter to them. after all, i am outside of their desirable demographic. heavens forbid, i am past 50 years of age. darned proud of it.

I have been watching ATWT since it started in 1956. I'm astonished that it is being taken off the air in 2010. With awards it received in 2003 and 2005, one would think that would be enough to keep it on. I hope you will listen to the fans and reconsider your decision.

How can P&G take a part of my life from me? I am a 5th generation ATWT watcher. THOSE PEOPLE ARE LIKE FAMILY TO ME AND MY OWN REAL FAMILY. Silly as that might sound to some, but its true. I can't believe the decision of the CBS network to cancel one of the most awarded soaps on any network. I realize that the ultimate decision comes from the almighty dollar, but in some cases, consideration should also be given to the loyalty of your viewers and compasion for the people who have become less able to accept changes and rely soley on a soap to get them thru their day.
CBS has been lacking in strong ratings and I believe that it is because CBS no longer takes the viewers interest into consideration.The show is great and the story lines are always captivating.
A little more consideration should be given before the final plug is pulled.

My wife, who suffers from MS is home bound. I have to work, so before I leave the house every morning, I turn the TV on to channel 7. My wife could lay on the couch and watch her favorite dramas all day and I wouldn't have to worry about her while I am at work. Now with GL off the air, I have to leave work to come home and change the channel for her because she can't & she hates game shows, they are stupid. She really loves the soaps and she never misses them cause THEY ARE HER DAYTIME FAMILY!

I started to watch ATWT 2 years ago and I am so hooked on this soap opera. I watched other soaps but this one really does take the cake. The show, all the actors are truly gifted for what they put into this show. Can't they stay on longer and renew the contract? They are truly worth their weight in gold.

I don't even have the words to describe how I feel about As the World Turns being cancelled. I was born in 1961 and have watched since my inception. In high school I came home for lunch just so I could catch the show, in college I scheduled my classes around the show. When I got a job, I taped the show and watched it whenever I could fit it in. Now, I am retired and watch it while I take my lunch break every day. I don't think you realize how much a show like this comes to mean to someone's life. It will be like a death in the family!

I've been watching atwt since 1961. The actors are outstanding. The stories have gotten much better over the yrs. I'm very sad that I won't be able to watch it due to cancellation. It's really a 1st class production. I hate to attach such importance to a soap opera, but it has been a part of my life for so long. Maybe it will be resurrected? I hope so. I guess I live my life with blinders on but when I saw everyone's life on ATWT heading towards perfection I knew the show was being cancelled. I looked it up on-line and sure enough CBS has now cancelled my favorite soap. I have watched most of the soaps on CBS since I was a kid. Now I have grandchildren and I still watch every day. all I can say is I need to keep up with current events. Until today I had NO IDEA WHAT SO EVER they were cancelling As The World Turns. I am DEVASTIATED AND HEART BROKEN. I watched this soap with my mother and continued to watch as an adult. My 16 year old even watched it with me on summer vacation and holidays. 30 year viewer i will miss it dearly.

Can not believe that my favorite show is cancelled... I watched this show with my mother who is deceased, they took a very special part of me when they did this. I won't be watching anything on C.B.S. at that time I promise and also my friends feel the same way.

Now what?? I've been watching GL and ATWT since I was 14, that was in 1984. I loved these two soaps. I actually cried when I saw the last episode of GL last year. I think it is a shame that they cancelled as the world turns. I hope if there is anyway they will bring it back. They have replaced it with junk. Today, they did a rerun of an old Young and the Restless in Cincinnati area for that time slot. It isn't like Soap Opera's flood the air waves; there are many things for people that are not soap fans to choose from in daytime TV.
