The season finale of the HBO megahit “Game of Thrones” airs this Sunday, Aug. 27, and HBO revealed that the episode will be supersized — our term, not theirs — running 79 minutes, 43 seconds.
Recent episodes have gradually been getting longer. Following the 50-minute running time for the season’s fourth episode, “The Spoils of War,” which premiered Aug. 6, “Eastwatch” clocked in at 59 minutes on Aug. 13, followed by the 70-minute “Beyond the Wall” last Sunday.
The upcoming episode, titled “The Dragon and the Wolf,” premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The episode is reportedly directed by Jeremy Podeswa, who began helming “GoT” installments midway through season five and has overseen five previous episodes — including the current season’s premiere.
