More than a dozen “Star Trek” feature films have been made since the film franchise launched in 1979 with “Star Trek: The Motion Picture,” and for the first time, a female director will be helming one of the movies.
Variety reports that S.J. Clarkson has been tapped to direct a project that’s being called “Star Trek 4,” which will be Paramount’s fourth “Star Trek” movie with Chris Hemsworth. Word is some time travel will figure into the plot.
Clarkson is best known for her TV work, including “Dexter,” “Bates Motel” and “Orange is the New Black.”
“Paramount is developing another ‘Star Trek’ film from J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino, but sources say it is still being written and would come after the fourth movie,” Variety notes.
