FX Chief John Landgraf, who’s recognized as an authority on the scripted TV and streaming landscape, said during his network’s recent Television Critics Association press tour presentation that 319 scripted series have been produced through the first six months of this year — up 5% from the same period last year — with much of the growth fueled by Netflix and other streaming services.
But Landgraf said FX won’t be increasing production to try to keep up with Netflix.
“I don’t want to be more everything,” he said. “I don’t want to take over the world. I just want to make good television shows.”
Landgraf also previewed a lineup of upcoming shows on FX that includes Chris Rock’s star turn on “Fargo,” the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff “Mayans M.C.” and a revival of “Shogun,” among many new projects.
