HBO released details about season three of its “True Detective” series, which is set to premiere in January 2019.

“The third season of the show tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods,” HBO said.

Mahershala Ali stars as Wayne Hayes, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff also star. The show is created by Nic Pizzolatto.
