Fox has given a third-season renewal to “The X Factor,” even with the singing competition’s numbers down from season one, Deadline.com reports.
Meanwhile, NBC announced an expanded schedule for “The Voice” during election week, setting up head-to-head showdowns between the two shows on two nights that week.
“NBC just announced that it will air live two-hour editions Monday, Nov. 5, and Wednesday, Nov. 7, (8-10 PM) as well as an hourlong one on Thursday, Nov. 8 (8-9 PM),” Deadline reports. “’The Voice’ airs Mondays and Tuesdays but will be pre-empted Nov. 6 for Election Night coverage.”
The scheduling change means “The Voice” and “X Factor” will go head-to-head on Wednesday and Thursday that week.
“The renewal comes as the current second season of ‘X Factor’ is heading into the live shows Nov. 1, a couple of days before ‘The Voice’ begins its live shows,” Deadline notes.
“X Factor” is averaging 1 3.9 rating in adults 18-49 season to date, with 10.6 million total viewers.
