The “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary special broke BBC America’s all-time ratings record, with 3.6 million viewers watching the first telecast and an encore on Saturday, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.
On Twitter, the show generated 1.8 million tweets, more than any other cable show for the week, the story adds.
As previously reported, the special set a Guinness World Record for the largest simulcast of a TV drama in history. The episode was simulcast in 94 countries and screened in 1,500 movie theaters.
