NBC’s astronaut comedy project from Will Ferrell has cast the star of the ABC sitcom “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” in the starring role. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Krysten Ritter will play Mary, the head engineer of the Apollo team at the NASA Manned Space Center, in "Mission Control."

With the program set in the early 1960s, Ritter’s character is a fish out of water given the male-dominated field, the story notes. The project, which Ferrell is executive producing, has the tone of “Anchorman,” and examines what happens when a macho world and strong woman collide.

Ritter will also be credited as a producer, the story says. David Hornsby of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” will write the script and also executive produce.
