Gene DeWitt has left his post as president of the Syndicated Network Television Association, the organization announced Friday. A replacement was not immediately announced.
The move comes four months after TelevisionWeek reported that a rift had developed between Mr. DeWitt and some SNTA members, who had hired him a year earlier (TelevisionWeek, March 31). Many SNTA members considered February’s SNTA conference to be a success, but some were disappointed with his performance.
“Gene brought a lot of experience to the platform, but we felt he was unwilling to sit down and listen to what it was we wanted to say,” one high-profile SNTA member said.
Members of the SNTA are: Buena Vista Television Advertising Sales, King World Media Sales, The Heritage Networks, Paramount Advertiser Services, Tribune Entertainment Co., Twentierth Television, Universal Domestic Television, and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
