For weeks “The Oprah Winfrey Show” has been talking up a big secret that would be revealed on the Sept. 13 season premiere. On Monday’s show the secret turned out to be a fully loaded car for every member of her studio audience, all of whom received a Pontiac G-6.
All 276 members of her unsuspecting studio audience had been selected to attend Monday’s show because of their need for a new car. The season premiere show also surprised a 20-year-old college student, a former foster care teen, who got a full college scholarship, a makeover from Tyra Banks and a new $10,000 wardrobe from Express. A third segment of the show presented $130,000 to a family with eight foster children to help pay their mortgage. The family also received products from retailers Crate & Barrel and Best Buy.
“The Oprah Winfrey Show” is produced in Chicago by Harpo Productions and syndicated by King World. Monday’s “Oprah” marked the launch of the program’s 19th season.
