Nielsen Media Research released data Thursday showing that ad-supported cable networks had much higher ratings in July under the new Local People Meter system installed in five major markets than they did a year ago using the diary system to measure demographics.
The increases among viewers 18 and older ranged from a 39 percent increase in Los Angeles to a 79 percent increase in Philadelphia.
