Cablevision Loss Unchanged Despite Revenue Growth

Cablevision Systems reported Tuesday that its third-quarter loss was essentially unchanged at around $63 million, even as the cable company posted an 11 percent increase in revenue to $1.2 billion.

The company said the revenue growth was fueled by gains at the company’s cable operations, Madison Square Garden and the company’s national cable networks AMC, WE: Women’s Entertainment and IFC, which more than offset steep declines at Cablevision’s Chicago regional sports network due to the loss of professional sports content and affiliate-fee revenue.

Cablevision’s cable operation reported an increase of 3,500 basic-cable subscribers and an increase of nearly 102,000 digital video subscribers. The company’s high-speed data service rose by nearly 81,000 subs.
