Viacom’s college channel, mtvU, has agreed to acquire Y2M: Youth Media & Marketing Networks, parent of College Publisher, which operates 450 online campus newspapers reaching 5 million college students.
The acquisition enables mtvU to put together advertising packages that reach college students through multiple media, including TV, online, broadband video, mobile phones and on-campus events.
“Student publications are the lifeblood of college campuses, and we’re looking forward to supporting them with new tools and advertising opportunities-empowering them to expand their offerings and audience as well as improve their financial performance,” Stephen Friedman, general manager of mtvU, said in a statement. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
