Time Warner Cable on Friday settled without penalty Federal Communications Commission accusations that it illegally removed the NFL Network from 1.3 million Adelphia and Comcast cable system subscribers without providing a required 30-day notice.

The FCC on Aug. 3 forced Time Warner to restore the network, a decision Time Warner originally said it intended to fight.

The NFL Network was carried on a number of the Adelphia and Comcast systems that Time Warner got in its $12.5 billion deal for the bankrupt Adelphia system. NFL Enterprises complained that Time Warner’s sudden dropping of the network violated FCC rules, particularly since it had offered to waive fees during the month.

In the settlement, Time Warner acknowledged it violated FCC rules, but the FCC agreed not to further penalize the company because it followed the FCC order to reinstate the channel for 30 days, effectively giving notice made any further violation issue moot.
