Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” is adding a new correspondent. Deadline.com reports that the late-night show will bring aboard comedian Michael Che.
Che will leave his post as a staff writer on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” to join “The Daily Show” in June, the story says.
“This is a rare talent move from ‘SNL’ to another late-night show as up-and-comers who get their break at the venerable NBC series tend to stay there for a long time,” the story notes.
Che joined "SNL" in September, following a guest-writing role in the previous season.
The report adds: "Che made his late-night debut in 2012 on CBS’s 'Late Show With David Letterman' and became the first stand-up comedian to perform on NBC’s 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' after the 'SNL' alum took the helm of the show."
Che also has a stand-up special set to air on Comedy Central, with the premiere slated for June 6.
