Steven Gilborn, an actor who played Ellen DeGeneres’ befuddled father on her comedy show “Ellen” in the 1990s, died on Jan. 2, the New York Times says. He was 72 and the cause was cancer. He had appeared in many other television shows, including “The Wonder Years,” “Law & Order,” “The West Wing” and “NYPD Blue.”
