The U.K. precursor to ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” was rejected repeatedly by prospective U.S. partners when BBC executives pitched the show in 2004, Daily Variety reports. Once ABC ordered the show, many aspects of “Strictly Come Dancing” were replicated for “Dancing With the Stars,” including two of its judges and its on-stage and backstage visual appearance, the newspaper says.
