Former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has been ordered to stand trial along with comedian Katt Williams on charges of robbing a photographer of her camera, Reuters reports.
The case is separate from another incident that is hanging over Knight’s head in which he is charged with murder for allegedly running over a man in his pickup truck back in January during a confrontation at a Comption, Calif., hamburger stand.
“In the robbery case, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen heard evidence against Knight and Williams at a preliminary hearing and ordered a trial for the pair on robbery charges stemming from the September 2014 altercation in Beverly Hills,” Reuters reports. “Knight also faces a separate charge of making a criminal threat.”
Knight, 50, is the co-founder of the hip hop label Death Row Records. The report notes that he has convictions from 1997 on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
“Prosecutors in the [robbery] case have said if Knight is convicted they will seek a sentence of 25 years to life under California’s three-strikes law, which gives stiffer sentences to those previously convicted of serious felonies,” Reuters reports.
An arraignment hearing for Knight and Williams has been set for Oct. 27.
