A comeback for “Deadwood” is in the works at HBO, with the project confirmed by the pay-cable channel’s programming chief. TVLine reports that Michael Lombardo confirmed at the Television Critics Association press tour that HBO is moving forward with a “Deadwood” movie.

Lombardo “personally gave series creator David Milch the green light to resurrect the acclaimed yet painfully short-lived Western,” the story reports.

Said Lombardo: “David has our commitment that we are going to do it. He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.”
