Cable-television bills jumped 7.5% in the second half of 2008 to an average of $71 a month, Multichannel News reports, citing a study from research company Centris. Satellite bills rose almost 9% to an average of $74 a month, the publication says. Centris president Bill Beaumont told the trade paper that the increases were due to higher prices for programming packages.
