Amazon.com said it will offer 500 high-definition titles to rent and buy over the Web, DVRs and other Internet-connected devices, presenting competition to cable video-on-demand services, Multichannel News reports. The titles are a mix of movies and TV shows, with the latter available only for purchase at $2.99 each and including series such as “The Tudors” and “Gossip Girl,” the publication says.
