A new product has been released that the maker says will enable cat owners to share a bottle of wine with their cat. People magazine reports that Apollo Peak all-natural cat wine has no alcohol — alcohol is dangerous for pets — but is made from organic catnip, fresh beets and natural preservatives.
The company is based in Denver and run by Brandon Zavala, who said the idea started as a joke.
In an email, Zavala said: “I’ve usually been known to my close friends as the Cat Guy. I slapped a Pinot Meow label on several real bottles of wine and took to an annual trip as gifts. After hearing how great the idea was, I thought to myself, ‘why isn’t there a wine for cats?!’ The rest is history.”
Besides Pinot Meow, a Moscato variety is being marketed. They start at $4.95 for a 1.6-ounce bottle.
