One of the most beloved projects from Harry Shearer is at the heart of a $125 million complaint the actor, comedian and filmmaker filed Monday against Vivendi.
At issue are profits from the 1984 mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap,” co-created by Shearer. The complaint accuses Vivendi of breach of contract and seeks a jury trial.
Deadline.com published this quote from the complaint: “Defendant Vivendi and its agents, including StudioCanal executive Ron Halpern, have engaged in anti-competitive business practices by manipulating accounting between Vivendi film and music subsidiaries and have engaged in fraud to deprive the Spinal Tap creators of a fair return for their work.”
Shearer tweeted a video about the lawsuit, which you can watch by clicking on the link to Deadline above.
