ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” celebrated Father’s Day by encouraging viewers to sneak up on their fathers and scream, “I love you dad,” at the top of their lungs.

It may sound like a kinder, gentler version of one of Kimmel’s trademark YouTube pranks, but judging from the video it was still pretty terrifying for many of the victims.
