Nine LIN TV broadcast stations in cities including New Haven, Conn., and Mobile, Ala., could go dark at month’s end as a retransmission consent battle is brewing between the company and Cox Communications, reports Multichannel News.

The contract expires March 31 and would affect viewers of LIN’s ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, The CW and MyNetworkTV affiliates in Mobile; New Haven; Norfolk, Va.; Providence, R.I.; and Springfield, Mass., the story notes. Both sides have said they are working toward a new agreement, although LIN stations have advised viewers that if they don’t reach an agreement, Cox can’t by law carry its TV stations on the cable system.
