Revelation About ‘Real Housewives’ Star Prompts Forbes to Rethink Rankings

After reports surfaced that a business deal involving a reality television star was worth only a fraction of what was previously thought, Forbes magazine is said to be looking into its recently released ranking of the highest-earning women in entertainment, the New York Post’s Page Six reports.

"Real Housewives" star Bethenny Frankel’s sale of her Skinnygirl Margarita mix brand to Fortune Brands was originally estimated to be worth about $100 million, and Frankel was listed as the No. 3 earner behind Oprah Winfrey and Lady Gaga in part based on that figure, the story reports.

But recent reports citing an August filing revealed Fortune paid just $8.1 million for the brand, according to the story.

A source said Forbes is taking the discrepancy "very seriously" and is looking into it, although reps for Forbes and Frankel didn’t respond to requests for comment, the article says.
